A Story from the Town by Japan’s Number One Lake
The top spot goes to a local media site from the area around Lake Kasumigaura in Ibaraki Prefecture. It is run by a staff member from Tsuchiura City, who even creates the illustrations himself. The site is packed with information on leisure activities, dining, and culture. The title and illustrations evoke a nostalgic picture book feel.
In an age where anyone can take stunning photos with their smartphone, it can feel like you’ve visited a place without leaving home. Instead of photos, we use illustrations to introduce the area on our site, hoping it inspires people to think, ‘I want to visit there someday.’
The illustrations feature a unique design, and the variety of content is impressive as well; I found myself reading one article after another!
