The thumbnails used for article previews are automatically resized and cropped by WordPress from the featured images set in the editor screen. Therefore, the display might be broken due to the theme change.
This happens due to WordPress’s specifications: once WordPress generates thumbnail images, they are not affected by changes in theme or thumbnail size settings. Therefore, you need to regenerate the thumbnail images. There are plugins that can do this easily. Please refer to this article.
