- Please introduce yourself.
I grew up in Nabari City, Mie Prefecture. When I was a student at Kinki University, I was fascinated by bread and chose to become a baker. Three years later, I decided that I wanted to broaden my work horizons, so I moved to Osaka to work for a cosmetics manufacturer.
In February 2018, we opened the first Kurashi Select store in Nishi-Nakajima, Shin-Osaka, with the concept of "a general merchandise store that makes everyone happy".
- Please tell us how you launched Kurashi Select.
I was just about to turn 30 when I was asked to start up the store. I was determined to start my life in my 30s! But the women around me in their 30s were very tired and dry. LOL!
Therefore, rather than healing, I wanted to propose many "thrilling" and "exciting" moments in our daily lives.
I think that not only women, but men as well, all have exciting feelings that cannot be expressed in words. And the energy generated by this excitement can be amazing. After thinking about it for a few days, I decided that this is a general store! That's why I decided to start the store.
That's why I only have products in the store that are the result of my excited feelings.
If we can get excited together, we can definitely get along. I believe that excitement is a universal communication tool.

- What products do you recommend in Kurashi Select?
Additive-free cookies and gluten-free products are popular. Recently, additive-free organic fruit sodas have also been selling well. Goods are basically sold out, and we never stock the same products.
All handmade goods are one-of-a-kind. The herbarium (plant specimen) in particular is a one-of-a-kind item made by teachers who are also certified instructors of the Japan Herbarium Association. They have a wonderful sense of style and are often chosen as gifts.
- What kind of people do you want to come to your store?
I would like not only women but also men to feel free to come here. I hope the store will be a fun place for both men and women to walk around and imagine how they would like to use it or give it as a gift.
Gifts make people happy because I know that the person is spending time for me even when I am not seeing them. It's great to be able to support people who can think of others like that. If you don't know what to get for your friends, family, or lover, don't worry. I'll help you figure it out.
- You are so energetic! By the way, Ms. Takagi, what is your dream?
Thank you very much. People gather in a cheerful place. That's why I always keep a smile on my face. My dream is a bit of an exaggeration, but first of all, I would like to make the street in front of my store an exciting place. Shin-Osaka has an image of being an office town where people come to work and go home, or just take the Shinkansen, but I want to change that.
I want to make it a "thrilling and exciting place" for locals, tourists, single people, working people, and students. I have always been passionate about "becoming a new model". If we can change the atmosphere of the town and make it into a wonderful office district by introducing "Kurashi Select", I think we can become a new model for women entrepreneurs involved in town development. From Shin-Osaka, I'm going to send excitement to Kansai, all over Japan, and the world.
Even Though I Have No Knowledge of Websites,
I Was Able to Create a Nice Website With TCD.
- Thank you for using TCD. Please tell us how you came to know about TCD.
I asked my friend, who is a web designer, to make a website for me, but when I told him that I honestly could not afford to spend money on a website. He said that even I could do it if I used TCD's theme. I had made a simple HTML website in the past, but I had never made a proper one. I have almost no experience.
- How did you feel about using it even though you have no experience in website development?
I was amazed at how easy it was to update a moving, stylish site without any experience. At first, it was a little difficult to set up, but there were many parts where I could see how the site would change when I edited certain items. Once I got used to it, it was easy to use because I could change the design, font, etc. without knowing the code. Now, I take pictures of the store and products and update the website as if I were writing a blog.
- How has the response been from customers?
The visitors who see our site say it's stylish. When I tell them I made it myself, they say it looks like I hired a professional. I just take pictures, put them on the site, and write a blog, but the fact that I can still get that kind of feedback is a big benefit of the WordPress theme.
-What do you like about it?
I love the fact that I can turn my product lineup into a stylish gallery page just by registering my products. I think this is especially good for general merchandise stores and stores that deal in accessories. In the future, I would like to sell some goods on the site as well, and I think the design is a good match for an e-commerce site.
